Connor

Connor Dines: AEC North West Ltd Year 10. Electricians. Cannon Slade.

Connor Dines duties are wiring sockets and light fittings, assisting fitters, labouring and cleaning. His communication skills and confidence are improving every week. Connor stated that the Alternative Curriculum Service could not have found him a better employer to work with.

Paula

Paula Keenan: Orrell Structures. / Admin.Year 11. Cannon Slade

Paula has excelled in all areas of administration. The Managing Director Ian Rogers has praised her achievements and progress to date. Paula has been described as a quick learner, extremely efficient, well disciplined, hard working and able to work using her own initiative.

Stephanie

Stephanie Cunliffe. Saks Hairdressers. Year 10. Cannon Slade.

Stephanie is currently learning how to wash and straighten hair and carry out reception duties. Whilst at the placement her confidence has grown immensely, her communication skills have been enhanced through meeting and greeting new people of all ages and from different backgrounds.

Zak

Zak Templemann. DBBC. Media. Year 10. Cannon Slade

Zak arrives at DBBC everyday before staff member and clients, and is also the last to leave the building! His enthusiasm and love of work has enabled Zak to meet all of his targets well in advance. Dorothy Martland who is the owner of DBBC describes Zak as an excellent student

Lewis

Lewis McCarthy. Tonge Moor Services . Mechanic. Year 11. Sharples

Lewis has learned how to remove wheels and tyres from a vehicle, repair punctures and assist with vehicle servicing and MOT preparation. As a result of his hard work, he is now helping out on Saturday’s at Tonge Moor Services Jason Dudson, the owner is extremely pleased with Lewis’s progress and will support his ambitions to be a mechanic.

Masenge

Masenge Malanda. Harmony Youth Project. Media & Outreach Work. Yr 10. Thornleigh

Masenge has turned his life around after being expelled from another school in the area. He is now helping people within the community, mentoring pupils back at his school. Masenge has written and produced his own song and is currently creating a Black History Project. The Harmony Youth Project, Thornleigh Salesian School and his family are bewildered with the fantastic progress Masenge has made.

Sammy

Sammy Howarth

Sammy adores her work experience in SJ’s Hair Salon. She has gained lots of self confidence, and now has an excellent rappore with all staff members and customers. Sammy is pleased with the Alternative Curriculum Service’s support and guidance. She has now been offered a permanent employment position when she leaves school. ACS has also linked Sammy with a local training provider to further her ambitions in hairdressing.

Rachel

Rachel Haworth

Rachel has a wonderful disposition and has developed an excellent working relationship with the owner, Samantha Smethurst. Rachel is always pleasant to all of the customers. She works very co-operatively and productively. Rachel can now groom and style dogs, including clipping toe nails. Samantha would like to offer Rachel a full time job when she leaves school.

Nicole

Nicole Duckworth

Nicole originally trained as a silver service waitress, and is currently learning all aspects of bar and restaurant work. Nicole is progressing well, learning new skills every week. Her employers Michelle and Tim Hynes are very pleased with her ability to successfully multiskill at the Withins and on the speed which she picks up her new duties.

Billy Settle

Billy thoroughly enjoys his work experience in the kitchen at the Withins. His attendance and timekeeping have improved tremendously. Billy has learned how to prepare and cook food under supervision. He can now cook and produce the majority of meals on the menus and he now works part time at the Withins at weekends.

Hannah

Hannah Worral

Hannah has recently moved from a school in Devon. At the beginning she found it difficult to relocate and make new friends. Hannah is now extremely happy in her work experience placement at the salon as a trainee hairdresser. During Hannah’s last review, Hannah has now been offered a full time position when she leaves school, alongside a college placement to undertake an NVQ in Hairdressing

Hannah has also attended the Harmony Youth Project and has produced her own song.

Megan

Megan O’Rouke

Megan is highly motivated and keen to work. Her duties are sorting mail, attending courts and she is training to become a court usher. The Directors and Senior Partners of Kippax Beaumont Lewis are very impressed with her progress.
